I’d like to take a moment to congratulate you for taking the first step towards your journey of personal development! These next several months of your life will be a thrilling rollercoaster ride of exhilarating wins that make you feel on top of the world and challenges that keep you humble.

I was introduced to Student Works during my first year of engineering at Red Deer College. A DM from SWP came into my class and talked about a unique summer job and I signed up for an info session knowing I already had a summer job lined up. Two information sessions later, I was intrigued in the skills I would learn from running a business. I knew this commitment would put me way ahead of my peers and benefit my future.

During first year, I franchised in Drayton Valley, where I grew up! By the end of that summer I achieved the Fast Finish award. The following year I decided to run my franchise in Red Deer, where I was going to school. Using the knowledge I gained during the previous summer and focusing my effort on the most vital tasks, I learned to work smarter and accomplish more. This led to an increase in sales of almost 3X compared to my previous summer, as well as the Most Improved Operator award!

After my recent summer of operating, I became a District Manager so that I can start giving back and increase my skillset. Through the ups and the downs my DMs were always supportive and helped me achieve my goals and that inspired me to become one. For the year of 2020, I am excited to be working with the Northern Alberta franchisees and help them achieve their goals!

Additionally, I enjoy activities like travelling and investing. One of my bucket list goals is to travel to every country in the world and experience the unique perspectives and cultures so that they can shape my ideology.

Now, as you prepare for the upcoming operating season make sure to keep in mind that it’s going to be challenging, but it will be SO worth it. Congratulations again on embarking on this incredible journey. I can’t wait until you and I are ankle deep in sand, playing a game of beach volleyball under the Mexican sun!
